Countin Down

Standard

So today is Thursday.  This means that I have one more day left in the week.  This also means that next week is finals week.  Maybe it is just me, but it really seems like this semester EVERYTHING has been crammed into the last 3 weeks of school.  I am running on empty!  Being a procrastinator does not help at all!  I am an English major, which means that most finals are essays, and there is always a research paper due at the end of the semester for each class.  Of course I always manage to wait until the night before it is due to write it.  Therefore, I have not slept at all this week.  I do this to myself semester after semester, year after year.  The only diff. this time is that I have like twice as much work to do as I usually do.  At 2:00 today I have a final, tomorrow I have an oral exam in espanol.  I have turned in 2 papers, take 2 quizes, 1 test and done 1 presentation so far this week.  Next week I have 1 paper to turn in, and like 3 tests.  “What doesn’t kill us only makes us stronger.”  Guess I’ll figure that one out for myself.  If I am still alive come next Friday…I will be a very, very strong person!  (lol)   For all the others out there in this same situation at this time…GOOD LUCK!!  I hope you can keep your sanity because I feel I may have lost mine.  If I have not lost my mind yet, I may very well do so this week.

A New Discovery

easter-events-2009-and-zoo-126So this bloggin thing is a new adventure for me.  An adventure I believe that I am sure to enjoy.  I live with my family in Monroe, Louisiana.  We have a pretty great zoo around her, which I have taken my daughter to three or four times probably.  (That’s a pic of our most recent visit there to the left.)  As many times I have been, I have never taken the boat ride.  Our zoo does boat rides, horse rides for the kids, and a wagon ride (i think).  We have never done any of the three until our last trip.  My husband (Justin) thought we should take our daughter (Riley Grace) on the boat ride.  She loves water!  So we sent daddy up to the ticket window to buy us some tickets.  It was only like $6 I think.  Riley Grace is only 2 so she gets to do everything for free still.  (Oh to be 2 again!)  So off we went to our boat ride!  I have to say that it was GREAT!  Each boat ride lasts approximately 30 minutes.  I never knew it, but in order to see ALL of the animals that zoo has to offer, you have to take the boat ride.  They have these little islands with animals on them, and all sorts of other things that you don’t get to see otherwise.  We had the best time!  Riley Grace loved it of course!  She kept yelling, “WATER…WATER…WATER!!”  I would def. recommend it to anyone…it is a MUST!  The only down side to the zoo here in Monroe is that many of the animals are not in area anything like their natural habitats, and many of those areas are way too small for them.  As wonderful as it was to see all of those animals, I felt bad for them.  I began wondering is our enjoyment of looking at these animals worth the price that they are having to pay?  I think not.  I do know that some have been saved from the wild and being nursed back to health, but for those others…it is a sad thing.  They will spend most of their lives, if not all of their lives behind a glass with plastic branches for them to climb on.  And don’t get me wrong, not every exhibit has this issue, only a few.  However, I think we can all live without those few wich are inadequate for the animals which inhabit them.

Hello world!

Standard

Hi!  I am new to the blogging world, but very excited about it.  Don’t be shocked if I post daily and then not for a month.  I am a full-time wife, mother, and student.  Not to mention I work part-time, so I am typically very, very busy (mainly with school work).  I am an English major…and LOVE It!!  It requires a lot of work, but it isn’t too bad.  I will graduate in December, and have hopes of becoming a teacher.  If not teaching, I would love the opportunity to do some writing for a magazine.  I usually have a lot to say and a lot of opinions on things so I hope ya’ll enjoy reading my blogs.  If not,  that is cool too.
